Not everyone was enjoying a day of rest or exploring the streets of Liverpool. Michael, for example, was hard at work clearing the Tokyou restaurant of rubble to get it clear for the builders to remove two old and rather impressive wooden beams.

We had a good long talk, during which he explained the history of the building and the pending restoration work that was about to happen. Then we got a tour of the site to see the beams.
